Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Officers state they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then located numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis indicate the fluid was most likely human blood.
"There is still no clue as to its source; authorities are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in association with the event," they added.
City officials stated they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the community for information.
A high-ranking representative said the attack rendered him without words and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing attack in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the death of nine victims by a gunman focusing on residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
