'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith renews clash with City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the dramatic dying seconds of Swansea's remarkable turnaround win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith picking up a fan's glasses following the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith cracked the upright with a long-range effort from outside the box, and his teammate promptly hammered in the deflection before sprinting toward the crowd to revel in the moment, with fans mobbing the players.

Remarkable Recovery

This completed an unbelievable comeback given Swansea had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. In the celebrations, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator shouting out and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The result earned a next round fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with the London side in February. He had an excellent perspective when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's first-time shot from about way out going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that range," commented Galbraith, who started in midfield before switching to right defensive wing after Orient changed formation. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he traded tops, and the player was among the Manchester squad who paid tribute to the way the underdogs played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Physically they are exceptional but even the simple things and simple things, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they understand how to control and slow down a game. You can think you're all right and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball through a line without you even noticing. You have to be focused at all times of the game. It requires a strong mentality and concentration just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He made a name as a popular figure across two seasons at his former club and has quickly done the same in Wales. At Orient he reunited with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in senior football on loan at a League One side from United. Then came a spell at fourth-tier the Manchester club, before he moved on from Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was probably a somewhat inexperienced going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it appears the ball is moved without serious challenge. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

He has shown that maturation for club and country, shining for Northern Ireland, who are fighting to qualify for the international competition next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has started the past five games, including home and away encounters against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his eye for a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

This represents quite the ride for the kid from the Queens Park estate in his hometown, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his dad, Stuart, also a midfielder, play for his father's team.

Old Trafford Memory

Galbraith's only game for Manchester United came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to Astana, where they played on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was sealed owing to the weather of bitter cold. "That proved to be a long trip and it was chilly," he recalls, chuckling. "The week before, several youth players and I trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged 16? "This turned out fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I realized I couldn't establish myself at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I thought I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly progressing again."

New Environment

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at 5pm: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Prior to relocating to Sketty, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed fun bus, a minibus driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from practice and games.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, Ronald, an Ivorian player – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's nice to spend time with the guys but I'm planning to be the subsequent individual to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

While playing for Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with supporters on public transport after starting his journey at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
