Loud Blasts and Smoke Witnessed in Central Tehran

“The type of these blasts indicates that this is a missile attack,” a media outlet stated, without immediately provide additional information.
Background: Escalating Tensions and Prior Events
This event takes place against a backdrop of sharply increased tensions in the region. Major developments leading up to this strike involve:
- American Naval Deployment: A massive build-up of American warships in the region, including the movement of aircraft carriers.
- Nuclear Talks: Recent discussions between the US and Iran on Tehran's nuclear programme ended inconclusively, with indications of further talks scheduled.
- Public Statements: Prior to the strike, a prominent American figure had labeled Iran as “the leading state sponsor of terrorism” and delivered warnings regarding its weapons development.
- Ultimatum: Allegedly, a deadline of roughly two weeks had been given to Iran to resolve the nuclear dispute or confront severe consequences.
Iranian Response
Reacting to earlier allegations, Iranian authorities had accused the US of spreading “falsehoods” about its missiles programme. Officials dismissed assertions about weapons development and protest deaths as unfounded.
